What was your first car?
An old 1985 (?) Honda Accord that I bought from a departing grad student (I was a second year grad student at Syracuse at the time). Paid $1500 for it and double of that to fix it during it's lifetime. So much for that

Tend to like music in particular genres, but taste in genres are all over the place (e.g. love IDM and Bebop)
Favorite music genre - Progressive Rock (by a hair over a bunch of others)
Least favorite - Hip Hop (easy choice)
TV, books, movies: Who's your favorite fictional father?
Easy one .... Atticus Finch, although I've always wanted Darth Vader walk up to me and say "I am your father"

The history of mndoci: Many many years ago, in graduate school, I needed a yahoo id. With a name as common as mine, using that was out of the question, so I chose the name of an electronic structure calculation program I was working on at the time. It’s become part of my online persona (and for those who want to know, mndoci = Modified Neglect of Differential Overlap Configuration Interaction). You can find the real deal over here
How do you pass the time during a flight? What do you bring in your carry-on?
a. mp3 player with 12 hours of battery life
b. Lots of back issues of Businessweek
c. One or two issues of Harvard Business Review
d. A good book
I must admit that I tend to work on long flights for the 3-4 hours that I have batter life, but the mp3 player is always used.
